Morgan Hoffman grew up in the Hudson Valley and called NYC home for almost 10 years. Following a strong desire to return to her roots and launch up her first retail shop, after seasons of designing and wholesaling her fashion line in the city, Morgan returned upstate to open GIRLBOY in the Stockade District in Kingston in the end of 2023.

Morgan has always been influenced by strong feminist icons who possess an effortless androgynous style, often recreating these legendary looks in re-imagined polaroid homages. The ongoing inspiration for GIRLBOY comes from muses of the ages, including Louise Brooks in the 1920s, Katharine Hepburn in the 1940s, and Diane Keaton in the late 1970s. “These are all women who played with gender roles, and broke barriers when it came to style” explains Morgan. “They are fierce, timeless, and they have been inspirational to other women for decades. Anyone can incorporate elements of these iconic styles into their own personal look.”

With this in mind, Morgan’s philosophy for GIRLBOY celebrates the easy elegance of the classics-with-a-modern twist  “ with an emphasis on effortlessly chic looks from the influential 1960s and 1970s. Being your own muse…that’s the guiding light for the brand.”
